OBETV: YOUR AWARD WINNING CHANNEL OF CHOICE.
OBETV IS DEDICATED TO ENTERTAINMENT & EDUCATION.
Since its launch in November 2003, OBETV has come to represent a strong beacon of hope, a key platform for sowing the seeds of aspirations and the realistic feeling of the actualisation of those aspirations.
OBETV has a cult following through the originality of its content concept and delivery strategy.
Add to these, the unshaken determination and dedication; the vision and vigour and, of course, the professionalism and passion to carry on regardless.
The broad vision of OBETV is to provide a platform for the critical, crucial and significant discourse of issues and questions facing people of colour both at home in the Diaspora. These are the primary targeted audiences and viewers across the North of Africa, the United Kingdom, Europe and United States and beyond. The non-core audiences and viewers are also catered for through targeted programmes.
Apart from the community radio station movement, there was no significant television network aimed at the African and Caribbean communities in Britain. The seeds therefore for OBETV were planted at a time when there was need to built on the pioneering spirit of a few multi- media communication systems.
OBETV’s Vision is to provide entertaining and informative programmes to stimulate and inspire its audiences and viewers and offer a platform for actualisation of the aims and aspirations of the untapped, vibrant talents and skills of the ethnic minorities both in UK and elsewhere; and to provide a voice for the marginalized in mainstream television. OBE covers a multitude of issues in its programming, such as early childhood development, curriculum support, science and technology, youth, sports and culture, health, environmental issues, civic education, commerce, finance and politics.
OBETV mission also compasses the encouragement of Black and ethnic minorities effective and meaningful contributions to political and economic empowerment, good governance, transparency, accountability, open justice and fairness; and also with a central outplay focus that seeks to address the fundamental, core issues and challenges that confront all people of colour.
OBETV offers diverse programmes which appeals not only to African and Caribbean population, but also to a wider population interested in and influence by Black culture.
