MALARIA

Malaria is transmitted through a bite from the female Anopheles Mosquito
Contrary to popular believe that Malaria is imported by visitors to the UK, last year’s statistics shows an 81 per cent increase in UK residents who were affected by malaria. A total of 1495 cases were reported. Most reported cases were UK residents who visited their home countries without necessary prophylactic treatments. This causes unnecessary suffering and unnecessary burdens on an already burdened UK’s National Health System.
PREVENTION:
Malaria is preventable yet can be life threatening if affected. It is easily prevented by seeking Medical advice from your Health Care providers well before travelling to malaria hot spot areas.
• Be aware of Malaria hot spots
• Take action to reduce your risks
• Complete your medications as instructed by your GP or chemist and this may include before and after your trip
• Seek immediate medical attention in the event of fevers and or flu like symptoms
BE AWARE OF COUNTERFIT MEDICATIONS ON THE MARKETS OF AFRICA

Counterfeit medications can be readily available on most African markets for unsuspecting clients. This is a million dollar industry with high profitability with very little regard to the lives of the people it affects. A recent joint collaboration by Interpol, Police, Custom and Drug regulators across BURUNDI, ZANZIBA RWANDA, KENYA, TANZANIA and UGANDA ended with SEIEZURE of 10 Tonnes of such counterfeit drugs. This menace is on the increase in Africa therefore African Health Officials need to take corrective measures to eradicate this menace which threatens us all.
PRECAUSIONARY MEASURES:
All medications should be purchased from an approved drug store or Pharmacy
