A Message from OBE TV Chairman

A speech by Mr. Bernard Ampaw, Chairman, Original Black Entertainment Television Limited (OBETV) on 18 December 2004 marking the channel's one year broadcasting anniversary. Really, has it been that long? No. Far from it. The reason is simple. OBE TV has come to represent a strong beacon of hope, a key platform for sowing the seeds of aspirations and the realistic feeling of the actualisation of those aspirations.

About OBE-TV

ORIGINAL BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION - SKY CHANNEL 207

Original Black Entertainment Television (OBE TV) is a free-to-air ethnic minority channel primarily focused on providing information and entertainment to Afro-Caribbean communities and people with an interest in Afro-Caribbean related issues residing within the United Kingdom, Europe and North Africa.

Currently transmitting on SKY Channel 207, OBETV provides a 24 hour broadcasting service comprising programming that is rich in the diverse cultures, lifestyles, music, education, business and entertainment of Afro-Caribbean’s as it is lived and told by them.
Our Pride in presenting Africa without the ‘Make-up’  has over the years not only won the hearts of target audience currently totalling over 7.8 million digital satellite subscribers and 17 million individuals in the UK and over 90 million in Continental  Europe, but has also won a number of awards including the following:

    With an aim to educate, inform and entertain our viewers, OBE Television offers programming content covering a wide range of genres including Early Childhood Development, Curriculum Support, Youth and Sports, Culture, Health, Civic Education, Commerce, Finance, Business and Politics, Music, Drama and Full feature movies.
    Our long standing affiliation and collaborative agreements with major African Channels like Ghana Television, SABC, Ethiopian TV, KBC as well as independent production houses within the UK, Africa and the Caribbean  ensures that we are able to provide our target audience with up to the minute information on current affairs and entertainment from all over the African and the Caribbean.
    Our Programming Highlights include:

    STRAIGHT TALK

    Straight Talk is a Political programme that discusses issues of a political nature as the affect Africa.     ONE TOUCH
    Our flagship live music and entertainment show presented by some of London’s finest top presenters within the ethnic minority community comes off every Saturday within the hours of 7.30 – 9pm. The show presents the best in entertainment news and current music videos and also promotes up and coming artistes by providing a platform for interaction with our viewers.     EMMISSION  DE VARIETES

    As the name denotes, Emmission de varieties  is our block of Francophone programmes showing from Monday to Friday between the hours of 3 to 6pm. It comprises a collection of various drama series, political and social interviews and entertainment reviews.

    You and Your Health is our health programme that discusses health related issues


    SPORTS WITH KWAKU

    Hosted by  Kwaku  Ofosu  Asare a renowned Ghanaian Sports journalist,  our sports programme reviews all the weekly sporting activities within Africa and the UK.
