Siasia recalls Odemwingie into the national team
Odemwingie playes in England with West Brom
Nigeria striker Osaze Odemwingie has been recalled to the national team after settling differences with coach Samson Siasia.
Odemwingie was dropped from the team in March after leaving a training camp without permision, missing the Super Eagles' 4-1 win over Argentina and a 2-2 draw to Ethiopia, in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The West Bromwich Albion forward is included in a 22-man squad for next month's friendly against Ghana in London.
Last week, the Nigeria Football Federation said Odemwingie and Siasia had settled their differences and the player was back in contention.
Siasia, who had previously vowed not to allow Odemwingie back into the national team until he apologised confided that the problem had been solved.
"We are now on the same page and things can move ahead in the best interest of Nigerian football," said Siasia.
Also included in the team is Fenerbahce forward Emmanuel Emenike who was arrested this month in Turkey in connection with a match-fixing investigation.
He was released without charge.
Nigeria will use the friendly against Ghana to prepare for a Cup of Nations qualifier away in Madagascar in early September.
The two time African champions are three points behind group B leaders Guinea in the race for an automatic place in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

French club Nice axe Ghana defender Quartey

Jonathan Quartey of Ghana
20 July 2011
French side Nice have released their Ghanaian defender Jonathan Quartey, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.
The 23-year-old was axed after failing to impress in two seasons.Quartey, who played for South African side Kaizer Chiefs, was loaned to Turkish second division side Samsunspor last season.
But he also failed to hold down a first team place in Turkey which prompted Nice to release the towering defender.
"Nice are unhappy about Quartey performances and it is the reason why they have asked him to look for other opportunities," a Nice insider told MTNFootball.com.
Quartey has been left frustrated by the lack of playing time at Nice which prompted his decision to seek the loan move to Turkey.
But the lack of playing time at Samsunspor also affected his national team career as he has not been considered in recent matches.Jonathan Mensah has taken his position as the substitute for the central defensive pair of Isaac Vorsah and John Mensah.
Quartey joined Nice from South African side Kaizer Chiefs but has not been given much playing time in the French league.

Court dismisses EOCO’s motion

Date: 20-Jul-2011
The Human Rights Court in Accra today dismissed a motion by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for stay of execution for awarded damages awarded against the state body by the Court.
The Court in May 2011 awarded damages against EOCO after the Court upheld the Ghana Football Association's suit against the investigative agency.
EOCO were ordered to pay GHS 50,000 to the Ghana Football Association as damages and GHS 9,000 as cost for its raid on the FA’s headquarters of the GFA on December 7, 2010.
The Court's ruling noted that the sections of the High Court Rules being evoked by EOCO could be applied in an instance where they had accepted the judgment of the court.
According to the Court, it would be an obvious embarrassment for the court to accept the EOCO’s argument.
The Court said because EOCO was challenging the order of the court, it could not come under CI 47 of the High Court Rules, adding that amounted to abuse of the court’s process, hence upheld the argument of the GFA.
It further awarded another GHS 500 as cost against EOCO.
